I would say that I was prepared for this test. I did a lot more research prior to writing this essay than the others due to the fact that it was an argumentative essay. It's important to know your topic well because you will have to pick a side and defend that choice. Extensive research is a must for this type of essay.
ReplyDeleteI agree that this essay needs a great amount of research. It's good to hear that you are prepared for this test like most of our classmates. Even though this might have been the most challenging writing that we did, we actually finished it on time. I was surprised that most of us find this essay interesting including me.
DeleteChallenge face when you try hard. I would say your getting there already keep up the good work.
DeleteI think I was also more well-prepared doing this test than the other tests due to the heavy research prior to writing the actual essay. And I agree that we should always have an extensive knowledge about the topic to properly defend your side of the topic.
DeleteI would say that I was very well prepared for this test. Knowingly that this test alone would be time consuming and hard work. Just doing research and citing your sources is a hassle. I used the writing process stages to guide me through my essay.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you say. I did the same thing, and it helped me to finished mine and be prepared for today's class.
DeleteI agree that this test indeed needed a tremendous amount of work. Unlike you, citing was not that much of a hassle for me since the resource where I got my information and statistics from already had those covered. I was also well prepared for this essay too out of all tests because I started on it early.
DeleteI agree with you! The citation was also another aspect that was tricky to do, especially if you are used to using a different kind of citation. All-in-all, it was a good practice for both researching and citations for the future.
DeleteI missed today class session but I was able to present my thesis to Dr. Rivera and to three of my classmates. I enjoyed sharing my thesis and topic with them because it allowed me to express my thoughts and insight on my topic which was how mothers and fathers should have equal rights regarding the custody of their child. I enjoy our take home tests because it helps me practice writing different forms of essays and share with my classmates. I needed to research my topic and support my thesis which was a little harder than the other essays but was still enjoyable. Learning more about the topic gave me a better outlook and better support.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first read the list of topics we had to choose from this was the topic that stood out the most but I chose to avoid it because of my little understanding on family courts and custody of children. If I had done the take home test I think I would've enjoyed this test from gaining new knowledge on this topic.
DeleteI wished I stayed for awhile to hear what you and also some of our classmates have to share. I like your choice of argument because most of the time, mothers are always the one who gain custody of a child. Fathers should have equal rights because like mothers, they also have the capability of raising a kid. I agree that even thought this essay is hard to write, the process is interesting and the outcome is very rewarding.
DeleteTest #4 went well. Yes, I was prepared for it. I wrote my essay ahead of time and utilized all the steps in the writing process. I did a lot of research and put a lot of time into my essay. I came late, but I was able to present my thesis, what I've learned and my stand on this topic to Dr. Rivera and my classmates that were there.
ReplyDeleteGreat job!..keep it up with the good work.
DeleteI think that test #4 was more of a breeze than the first three tests because we have gotten used to doing all the steps in the writing process. Without even realizing it any more, it has done wonders to our writing.
DeleteAlthough test #4 was challenging, I was some what prepare for it. Test #4 requires us to do intense research at the same time cite the resources on which we have found the information on to support our topic. I was not sure on how to MLA cite a website so I asked my friend Hyett to show me examples on how and her examples did helped me. This essay was time consuming through all the research and citations. I found it interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is very challenging. I also find it very challenging out of the three that we done it before. But I also learned a lot from it, because of all the research that I did on mine.
DeleteI agree. This type of essay was challenging but very interesting because through it we are able to learn many new things, and not just on what we were arguing for but what we were arguing against since we had to present both sides.
DeleteCiting my sources was difficult for me as well. I have never really done any type of paper like this so I hope I did it correctly. Choosing a topic was interesting because I got to look at a list of different topics that I would have never considered researching before. It gave me a better look at tall the issues in society today and how these were only a handful.
DeleteTest #4 was okay. I really liked my topic, but it was a little hard to research about it. I did it anyway, because I wanted to express how I felt about my topic. My topic was about how fathers should be allowed to have the same treatment as a mother in family court decisions. I just really agree with it. I don't think it's fair that some people have low expectations of what a father can do . He should be able to prove himself, before they just automatically assume that the mother is a better care taker just because she is the mother. Anyway, hopefully I'll do a lot better next time!
ReplyDeleteI like your topic. It's very interesting. I did learn something from your sharing. Good job!
DeleteI like your willingness to accept a challenge! It's very true that many communities tend to favour the mother over the father when it comes to the custody of their children but I too think that what a mother can do or provide the father can also. I find the topic very interesting!
DeleteThat's interesting because we had the same topic! I also felt like I could have done better on this test and hopefully out final test will be our best because we choose which type of essay to write. I also agree strongly on the topic we chose and how it is a big issue that should be dealt with and addressed.
DeleteTest #4 was a little bit hard for me. I did the take home test, and I spent a lot of time working on mine, doing a lot of research. I did find it very interesting, because a learn a lot from it. It is very challenging and I am very happy because I manage to do it and finished it ahead of time. And class today was still good like always. It is very interesting too, because I also learn many things out of today's class. Today's class was still awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's great keep up the good work. Writing a essay isn't always easy because you need to put big effort on it.
DeleteTest #4 is a very challenging, yet interesting essay to write. It requires an extensive and tremendous amount of research. I took me about two days to finish it because I took too much time delving through the internet looking for necessary information I need to support my topic. My topic was to ban animal testing due to advancement in technology. When writing this essay one requires patience and dedication. Not only it was hard to write, it was also hard to stick or continue working on once you start on it. Out of all the essays that we wrote, I think this is the one I was most prepared for.
ReplyDeleteI agree! When I was writing my essay I had to refrain myself from going back to the list of topics we had to choose from. The topics were all very interesting and easy but it was the work and research required that made writing difficult.
DeleteYes, test #4 was extremely difficult yet interesting at the same time. I can honestly say I learned a lot from writing this type of essay and my knowledge on the topic has expanded tremendously. It also took me a while to write the essay because I had to find valuable information to insert into my essay. I felt prepared for this test as well and feel confident about my topic.
DeleteTaking test #4 was a lot harder than I had expected and since I decided to do an in-class essay I didn't have much confidence in how accurate my citations were. To be prepared next time I would conduct a thorough research in the topic at hand, and find and use credible sources only.
ReplyDeleteTest #4 is a the most difficult out of all indeed. I did not take the in class assignment but I know how hard it might have been. Not only you have to write an organized and well verse paragraphs, you also have to think twice as much due to the fact that you have no resource to refer to when writing.
DeleteThis test was pretty hard. Finding credible sources and using them effectively in your essays to back up your thesis is harder than I thought it would be. It's so easy to break away from a structured approach to this type of essay because it's hard to be impartial when arguing a point.
DeleteLike what everybody else said, writing an argumentative essay was definitely the most difficult one to write. The most difficult part in writing this essay was finding good resource material and synthesizing it to your own words. I really enjoy writing this type of essay because it is always easy to research about your topic, but it is not that easy to think of everything you want to write about.
ReplyDeleteI agree, an argumentative essay is definitely difficult to write. It required a lot of research and focus when structuring the body of the essay. It was also enjoyable because it allowed us to learn more about the topic we were researching and have a better understanding of it. Finding good material is extremely crucial and putting it into our own words was also vital. Overall I am happy with test #3 because it was a good practice.
DeleteTest #4 was alright it wasn't that difficult but I love a challenge. I want to get a A in my next exam. I would do really good at the final exam. I could write a better essay than most people could write. I want to be in the top one day. I want to be in the deans list. I am not expecting all that but at least pass all my class and graduate on time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! It was not exactly the most difficult thing I have done in my life, but it was certainly a challenge to do. I am hoping for your success! Hopefully everyone passes this class with flying colors!
DeleteI was extremely unprepared for this test. I actually thought the test would be two days from when it actually was. Although this be the case, I was able to choose a familiar topic and work with it. To be backed into a corner is an interesting experience that brings you to think even harder than usual.
