  2. I think that Test #4 was a little harder than the previous tests because we had to do research and cite sources. I could have done better on this test by starting earlier and doing more research. I only used three different sources and I could have used more. It was interesting hearing what my classmates wrote about.

    2. Very true. This was by far the hardest essay we have done. It was extremely challenging because of all the research we had to do.

      Delete
    3. I thought it was a little harder as well because you are arguing your topic. I don't even like arguing.

      Delete
    4. Yeah. It was a bit hard for me too

      Delete
    5. Indeed, this was very difficult especially the citations and bibliographies. It is more time consuming due to the amount of research for your topic.

      Delete
    6. I agree, going in to depth made this one a bit harder.

    7. I thought that test #4 was easier than the rest of the previous, but i agree that it was a challenge.

  3. I think test four was my favorite to write. I love writing essays where you have to research and state statistics. I was well prepared for this essay because I've got into this topic about the death penalty before, just simple research on it. I'm glad I got a chance to research it more and wrote an actual essay on it. I enjoyed today's class because it was interesting hearing everyone's argumentative topics. It's nice to know everyone's opinion on certain things.

    1. I agree. It is always nice hearing about the different sides to different topics everyone brings to class. I really like your topic because it is so controversial! I am not for the death penalty.

    2. Good job. You seem to be the only one who enjoyed writing this type of essay. I hope I can one day be as optimistic as you are towards this argumentative essay.

    5. I agree that test #4 was a good one because my specialty in life is arguing with what is actually better than what is presented.

    6. It is not often you will hear students be optimistic about writing an essay, which involve statics and facts. I must applaud you for your interests.

      Delete
    7. I agree with you. I enjoy looking for information and gathering all the facts and coming out with one main idea.

  4. This test #4 was a little bit critical for me. Argumentative essay should persuasive, meaning if you are against or for the topic. You should discuss your points, I was not sure of my essay but I was able to pull it off:)

  5. This was the first essay I started early and completed early because of the fact that I was a bit nervous for it. I've never done an argumentative essay so I knew I had a lot of research to do. But I feel pretty good now knowing that I can officially write all different types of essays. Now that I know what I'm doing, I will probably start on my final and self reflection essay to get it out of the way.

    2. That is great that you started and completed this essay in advance. It allows you to take your time and not fret about it. I think I am going to start on my final and self reflection essay too. With our stronger writing potential I know we can do it.

    3. I too was nervous yet tired of this essay. Thankfully, it is done. I am gonna start of the final and self-reflection as well. This is a great opportunity gather the potential and apply what we learn to finish off the semester strong and proud.

    4. I think that's a good idea. I might start early too.

  6. For test #4, I thought I was prepared. I didn't know I had to choose the topics from the 4 Major Essay handout. I was very grateful that my essay was accepted, but I'm expecting to get points taken out. Next time, I will make sure I do my essay in the right format and use the topics listed from my handout. I have an amazing professor and colleagues !

    1. I too did not know we had to choose from the 4 Major Essay handout. I was scared that I would have to do the in-class essay. The next essay we will do even better! I agree, I love our class!

    2. Don't be to hard on yourself. We all make minor mistakes sometimes. As long as we learn from our mistakes, then that's all that matters.

      Delete
    3. That's okay. If you want to do a different topic, you can just talk to our professor about it.

      Delete
    4. Don't worry about it! Honestly your topic sounded really interesting and I agree with you on your topic, long distance relationships could work out!

      Delete
    5. Yeah don't worry many people forgot to choose from the list.

      Delete
    6. I didn't know we had to pick a topic from the list either! I just got lucky that my topic was actually on the list.

      Delete
    7. Same here, I thought I was going to stay back to do the in-class essay because my topic was not on the list. Luckily, when she asked me all that she wanted to know I had touched pretty much most of the areas.

    8. It's alright. We all make mistakes. Your topic was interesting.

  7. To be honest, I do not really like this type of essay. I remembered the time I took a similar essay in my 11th grade research class. Considering that it has been 3 years, I cannot remember the specific criteria such as citations and bibliographies. So it is somewhat difficult for me. Anyways, I researched my topic a week ago and gathered all my sources. The next time I write an argumentative essay, I will make sure to expand my resources and go beyond the limitation to write an effective essay.

    1. I don't like it as well, but we have no choice to do it. I will expect doing more of these persuasive essays in college. I think this will prepare me for future assignments.

    2. Yeah, I really don't like it too.

    3. I also agree with you guys. This type of essay was definitely not the type of essay I like writing.

  8. Actually, I would say that test number four was a little bit hard for me. From the previous essay that I wrote I didn't do much of the argumentative essay. however, I enjoyed a lot doing it because a learned to argue and support my point.. Also, I did learn to use the APA format.

    1. I also learned how to argue and support my point. This time, I cited my sources unlike my test #3.

    2. It is good to learn this type of essay for future references. I cannot imagine the amount of research and hardwork in the future. I too learn about APA format. However, It has been a while since I applied it.

  9. I was prepared for test #4. Although I struggled a little on trying to give my points of view on both sides I learned a lot on writing my essay. I learned to use the MLA Format as well as making sure that my transitions between the introduction, body & conclusion were clear & logical. Overall, I enjoyed persuading others that drivers should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving.

    2. Oh, my gosh! That was my problem too. The connection to allow an easy flow to your new body paragraph. I was struggling with that part.

  10. I think I was most prepared for test #4 because I knew I had to do some extensive research on my topic. In order to prepare myself, I researched my topic and wrote down the points that I thought were of most importance. From there, I looked into to detail on those points to further accentuate my view. Today's class seemed really fun! Hopefully I won't be late next time so I can hear everyone's topics.

    1. I feel the same way. I selectively chose specific books about my topic, which helped me prepare for test number four.

  11. I was much more prepared for test #4 today. I had no problems or difficult encounters. The strategies I used to prepare for test number #4 was the writing process worksheet and outline, it was easy for me to write my essay this time and less time consuming. The only time consuming part was the peer edit and having to revise and make the corrections other than that test #4 was a good day and I hope to have this kind of mentality and enthusiasm when the final exam comes. Today overall was a good day and very interesting listening to other peoples topics and thesis.

  12. I was prepared for test #4 because I had done it in advance. It was easy for me because I enjoyed the topic I wrote about. The topic I chose was medicinal marijuana as an alternative drug. Today many people see marijuana as a bad drug because of the young kids who do it to act stupid but in actuality marijuana enlightens you. Marijuana allows you to control your thoughts. Besides that todays class activities were fun as usual. I love test days.

  13. I did not prepare for test #4 well. I was confused what I had to write.I can say test #4 was most difficult essay that I have written. I spent for a long time to decide in topics. I was considering to write either prohibition to use cell phone while driving or benefits to have counseling before divorce. I chose the topic which is about counseling of divorce because I already had some information about it, so I was sure that I would be able to write my essay about it comfortably. I regret that I could not attend others' presentation because I was late. I hope I can listen others' essays next time.

  14. I wrote my argumentative essay in class even though I had extensive research, because I wanted my thoughts to flow faster. Usually, I tend to be slower when I write an essay at home. However, I will take advantage next time an essay is offered to be written at home. I could have written a more polished essay if I decided to write at home. I do not regret my decision, because it was a good learning experience.

    2. I agree with you when you mentioned you wanted your thoughts to flow faster. I too tend to write or complete my essay at a slower pace when it is done at home.

    3. I have to agree with you when you said writing at home is a slower process than in class tests. When you write at home there's so many distractions and ideas don't flow quickly. But I can't in class because I can feel all the pressure of perfecting my essay.

  15. I can honestly say that i was not very prepared for this test. I didn't have much extensive research other than the common knowledge that I tried to take advantage of. For the next test I will definitely try to be more prepared than I was this time. For this test I feel slightly disappointed in my self. I definitely didn't work to my full potential.

    1. I was also basing everything in my essay with regular common knowledge.

  16. Yes, I was prepared for it. Although, I now know it is best to select a topic from the list that was provided when writing an essay. Otherwise if we write about a topic that was not on the list we must confirm our topic with the instructor. With Test # 4 I am hoping I touched all basis within the criteria.

  17. I would say that I was very prepared for Test #4. I did a lot of research on my topic and I felt that my argument was communicated in a way that I wanted it to. I did clustering for this assignment instead of my freewriting. I don't know why but I enjoyed writing this paper more than I did with the other papers that I've written for this class before.
