  1. It is important to avoid run-on sentences because it will confuse your reader. According to the site you provided and its example sentences were some of the mistakes I had in the past. It is important to write a complete sentence and use correct punctuations to be understood. It will be clearer for reader(s) to understand.
For example, (Incorrect) My brother and I went shopping for food, then we went and ate out. (Correct) My brother and I went shopping for food. Afterwards, we ate out.

  2. A run on sentence is two sentences put together forming one long sentence. It is preferred if one avoids run on sentences by turning it into separate simple sentences. When one turns run on sentences into simple sentences it will be much easier for the reader to understand. Today's class activities were of course informative i learned much more about narrative essays, transition words, and dominant impression.

  3. I feel it is important to avoid run-on sentences because it's very confusing to the reader. Like the resource said, no one can hear you speak if it's on paper. In order to ensure that the reader correctly interprets your work you need to make it easy to read and understand. If you use run-on sentences, the wrong message might be sent if you don't use the correct punctuation marks.
Regarding today's activities, the example by Mike Kavanagh helped me really understand the concept of a descriptive narrative.

  4. We have to avoid run-on sentences. Avoiding run-on sentences helps people understands what are you talking about or writing about. It confuses people if you do run-on sentences and make them feeling lost on your topic and we don't want to do that. As from the link it says people speak in run-on sent races by they tend to pause and change their tone of voice to make people understands and relate to what they are talking about.

  5. We avoid run-on sentences so that we do not confuse ourselves or even the reader, because in real life when we talk we have a change of tone or pause between our words. In writing we will not be able to show those impressions, therefor it is important to avoid run-on sentences. In addition my thoughts on today's class was interesting I learned some thing new and that was telling what a dominant impression was. Even reading a example of a Narrative essay dealing with the 5 senses. Overall today's class was a good session!

  6. Run-on sentences contain two main independent clauses without any punctuation. In an academic writing, it is extremely important for students to not use run-ons. Otherwise, your readers will be confused, and in most cases, uninterested in your essay. Punctuation is key to make your readers know if the sentence is a generalization and example, cause and effect, etc. You want your readers to read a clear and vivid essay.

  7. Run on sentences should have proper punctuation. If not, readers will be confused. They are not able to hear what the author is talking about but instead they can only picture it. So run on sentences should be avoided in order to catch the readers attention.

Although we have learn about how and why it is important to avoid run-on sentences, we tend to write them occasionally. Personally, I have a habit of writing run-on sentences when I'm writing mostly because I'll write the same way as how I speak. Fortunately, We can recognize this kind of error on the revision stage. Today's session was relaxing and smooth. I especially enjoyed the essay about rocket racing. Normally, I wouldn't be interested in that type of topic, but he was very detailed about his experience.

In today's class session I quite enjoyed the part where we shared our comfort foods and activities. I have always enjoyed activities that cause the class to share personal topics, and find similar interests among the students and even the teacher. In my opinion, it helps to unify the class making things more interesting for the course session.

  15. Readers cannot find a subject well if run on sentences are in an essay. Avoiding run on sentences is significant. Sentences should be included subjects and verbs basically. Therefore, run on sentences which make readers cannot find a main subject well will make an essay meaningless. Showing authors' thinking and ideas is most important.
Today's activities was enjoyable. Sharing comfort foods, reading essays, and exercise were all meaningful to me. From exercises, I could learn again to find sound, sight, and touch in the sentences. It was meaningful and enjoyable.

  16. We should always avoid run-on sentences on essays because it sounds sloppy. Run-on sentences should be broken down into separate sentence, so that readers could understand the writing better.

    For example:
(Incorrect) The singer was nervous that she forgot the lyrics on stage.
Correct: The singer was nervous. She forgot the lyrics on stage.

In today's class activities, we learned about descriptive and narrative essays. Sound, sight, touch, and smell are important factors for a good descriptive essay. We also learned how to use and identify transitional words.

  18. When writing an essay, the writer should always try to avoid run on sentences. In these types of sentences, the subject is usually difficult to locate because of the large amounts of information presented in them. Because of this reason, the writer may be confused and unable to fully understand the material. Today's activities were enjoyable, I imagine. Although I wasn't able there for most of the class, from reading these posts it seemed as though the activities were very informative.

  19. As a writer, It's important to stray from using run on sentences. Run on sentences are like reading on one breath. Commas act as breathing parts and periods are like the end of ones thoughts. But is continued on to the next sentence. Though it may sound right to the writer, the reader however cannot hear the tone the writer has set in his essay. Plus, the way it's read in the essay must sound off and misused. I guess I missed an enjoyable class activity due to being sick.

  20. It is important to avoid run on sentences because it just makes things harder to read and comprehend. If you have a sentence that just keeps going without an commas or periods it gets confusing. I remember in high school I edited one of my classmate's essays and he had run on sentences throughout the whole thing. It was confusing to me and I my mind was all over the place.
