Reflection - Test #2 - Sec. 5 - April 9
Discuss your thoughts on taking Test #2. Were you prepared for it? If so, what strategies did you use as part of your preparation? If you were not prepared for it, what will you do next time to ensure that you do well on the test? In addition, discuss your thoughts of today's activities.

My experience with this test was okay. I feel as if I could have done better to prepare for it and also what I put in the essay. I think I could have been more descriptive in the essay and also could have focused more on the actual event than how I got there. How I got there is important, but I think I talked a little too much about it. I think I did well, but I could have done better as well.

DeleteI really enjoyed test 2. I was prepared and ready to write my essay right away. I liked writing this essay because it was easy and came straight from experience instead of research. I enjoyed telling my story at my cousin's wedding and sharing about what I learned from writing it. I loved today's activities because it was fun hearing everyone's topics and thesis statements.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you a lot! It was much more fun writing this essay from experience instead of research because you could describe it personally on how you felt. I would love to hear your essay about your cousin's wedding. It sounds really interesting!
DeleteI agree. I enjoyed writing the test #2 but at the same time it was challenging because the more I write about college is the more I get nervous.

DeleteWhen you write about something from experience, you will have a lot of things written down! I was shocked when I double-spaced the essay I have written so far. It was already two pages!
DeleteThat's true. At times, it can be a lot easier writing form experience than writing based of research.
DeleteI agree. Writing a narrative essay is easier than most essays because it is mainly a recollection of our experiences.
DeleteTest # 2 was so easy for me! Completing your essay long before it is due is much easier than doing it the night before. I did Test # 1 on the night before it was due, and I wanted to cry because it was so stressful. I was definitely prepared for Test # 2. I cleared out my schedule so I would have time to do this test. It was awesome hearing about everyone's topics. I really wish we could read aloud essays one day!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty easy for me as well considering it's basically a story from experience. I totally agree with you when it comes to doing an essay a couple days before rather than doing it the night before. It really is less stressful.

DeleteI agree. This time around I wasn't so last minute on completing test two. But I'm glad you were able to manage your time to reduce stress of last minute work. That would be a great idea to hear everyone's essay. I don't think it would take to long and it would be nice to hear about story's of peoples lives.

DeleteHaving good time management will help you get things done faster! I make a schedule of the things I need to do to keep me on track and meet my deadlines of my assignments.
DeleteI agree!! Doing your homework in advance is very helpful and less stressful than doing it the night before.
DeleteI agree. Although, sometimes, I end up re-doing it when I review it the day before I turn it in.
DeleteI should probably do that instead of waiting last minute. It's stressful but the somehow ideas appear out of nowhere when you're crunched for time.
DeleteThe narrative essay on this Test #2 gave me good experiences. I learned a lot about narrative essay. I was prepared to write my essay because I have learned how to write a essay using the three stages of an essay process. This time and next time will be better as always. Every class session, I learned something new so that it'll help me do well on the next one.

DeleteI feel I was prepared for it. This time not everything was last minute except for typing the final draft. I can say I managed my time well for this test. What I liked about todays class was the fact that we got to hear about each others topic and thesis. I enjoyed this because it only helps give me examples of how to write thesis statements and how to support it.

DeleteThe only thing about my test that was last minute was my peer review. Overall, I'm very happy I'm done with my essay. I worked pretty hard on it.

DeleteMy experience on test two was great. First, I did mine way too early before it was due. I was prepare for it because I already had a great topic to write about. I was also able to ask two of my classmates to help me on the peer review. they really helped me a lot and I was also able to learn from the minor grammatical errors that I made.

DeleteIndeed, I like how you prepared your essay too early. It is something that I need to practice. I always get in the habit of doing my essay 3 days, if not, last minute. Also, the more people peer reviewed your essay, the stronger your essay will be and you will improve yourself as a writer.
DeleteTest #2 was very easy for me because I had so much to write about for my topic. I have done a better job preparing for this test than Test #1. Hearing other people's topic was quite interesting. I tried to make my essay very detailed to create a clear visual image. I enjoyed writing about my experience because it was not stressful!

DeleteMy narrative essay was not stressful to write about. But if you read it you would probably feel stressed about the experience the girl in the story had to go through.

DeleteI felt that test number 2 was a fun essay to write. Through this essay, you are able to tell your story in a very creative way. Although it was a fun essay to write, I was unprepared. I finished it the day before it was due and now I know next time to do it more in advance. This way I can have more time to perfect it and review over the small errors I might have made. Today's activities were really fun! I really liked how we talked about the fiesta and hearing about everyone's essay gave me new ideas on how to write my future projects.

DeleteI agree. Out of all the types of essays, I personally like narrative essays the most because their is no wrong answer. We get to choose our topic and write it as creative as possible.
DeleteYes, I was prepared for test two. I was able to present my topic, thesis and what I learned from writing a narrative essay. My topic was relating to "Distancing from a Sibling" and the reason why I chose this topic was because it was a personal experience I had for over a decade. No one can narrate this story like I could, not even Paramount Pictures or Hollywood....hahaha! Hard knock life was what I have been through but all well worth living because was always winning! Also, I will be bringing the red rice and baked chicken for our "End of Semester" party. Thank you! Terek! Don't forget to bring the fish from Palau. :)
ReplyDeleteGood choice of topic. No one else can narrate a story better than someone who has experienced it. I think that pertains to everyone who has ever experienced LIFE, seeing as we all experience it differently. Good job so far on coordinating the party. I am looking forward to it.
DeleteI was well prepared for test #2. Although my topic was quite personal, I was still able to present my topic, thesis, and my experience from writing a narrative essay. I went over it a couple of times to correct my grammar and punctuation. Revising/Editing helps organize your essay. The writing process worksheet helped me the most throughout this essay. Using the three stages of the writing process worksheet is a great guide and helps make writing an essay a lot easier.

DeleteIt is absolutely understandable. The important part was giving an overview for listeners to understand the topic and the importance. Some personal details should only be read if it was intended to be read.
DeleteTest #2 was better than my first test. Even if my first essay's topic was easier than second test, I spent more time for second test than first test. I prepared for the test, but it would not be perfect. I am satisfied myself because I did my best for second test. Today, I was nervous and shy to present my essay, so I did not really explain my thesis well. Next time I hope to do better than today!

DeleteI agree. The more time you spent on your topic, the more well-prepared your essay will be. Preparation is key to having a good essay.
DeleteI feel pretty confident about this test. I chose a topic that was something I would always remember. I distinctively remember all the emotions I felt and that really helped while writing this essay. I felt that I could I have taken more time to write this essay but overall I was prepared. I find that the steps we are to do before we write the paper are crucial. The Writing Process Worksheet helped me with staying on task.
ReplyDeleteI always find it interesting on what my fellow classmates chose as their topics because it shows how different we are.
I also enjoy listening to everyone else's choice of topic and the way they are presented. Some are funny and other's are very touching and personal. I enjoy the diversity.
DeleteI agree. It always seems fulfilling writing about our true emotions and feeling towards an important aspect in our lives. The words we choose to portray in our personal story is definitely written from our hearts.
DeleteIndeed. I find that this test is easier than the last one. Usually the topics that is memorable is always the ones that interest the readers and easy to write about.
DeleteTest #2 was a lot easier for me than Test #1, because I think I am getting used to the hang of things. I chose a topic that I has always been a huge impact on my life, so all my thoughts were easily put from pen to paper. I was mentally prepared for this test, but my only problem is that I procrastinate a lot. Truth is I would rather spend time with my kids than doing something that I feel is less important and everything that does not involve my kids are always second priority. It is a problem I do realise that, but it is something at this time that I cannot help. I enjoyed today's activity mostly because my son never really sits still. I feel like I have Christian to thank for that as well. Thank you all for accommodating my son, he felt extremely welcomed and thank you Christian for talking and playing with him. He really enjoyed your company.
ReplyDeleteMy essay for test number two seems much more well-prepared and organized than previous essays for this class. I feel very much confident with my writing because it tells a story and has a message. The most helpful preparation in writing a narrative essay is to view it as a story, which include an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and a resolution. My essay follows these patterns in chronological order. These important steps are necessary to write a good narrative essay. I enjoyed discussing and listening to my classmates narrative essays because it shows our sincerity and it opens our eyes to see the person within his or her words.

DeleteAs for Test 2, I felt more prepared for it than the last test. I thought of the topic a week beforehand. It seemed easy because it is a narrative. Based on this essay, I improved my grammar. Even though I am struggling with it, I can see my errors and correct them. As for today's class activity, I enjoy listening to my classmate's topics. Each person has a interesting topic from the dangerous experience to the most memorable events.
