Reflection – Writing the Controlling Idea/Organizing and Developing Support - Sec. 5 - April 14

Visit this URL: http://www.umuc.edu/writingcenter/onlineguide/chapter2-10.cfm Now that you are well familiar with a controlling idea/organizing and developing support, discuss a topic sentence that would be good to explore for the Spring Break.

Example: Yesterday, I had an unusual fiesta experience at the Field House.

Please note that the above topic sentence enables the audience to inquire what kind of experience you've had and why it was unusual.

In addition, discuss your thoughts on today's class activities.

  1. A topic sentence that would be good to explore for Spring Break would be "Eater Sunday". Easter Sunday was a day I was able to eat rice again. Having to give up rice for lent was a painful yearning temptation. I was able to develop will power to resist the severe longing for rice.

    8. That's is good, the trick is you do not really need to quit rice if you see your gaining more bigger love handles, I simply just switched to complex. "Brown Rice or Quinoa" the results are amazing why i say that is because i did a test on eating white rice for a whole month last year and ran till i dropped all the weight and switched to brown rice or Quinoa. You would be amazed on what you discover would not have to go through that suffering.

  2. I think that a sentence that would be good to explore for the Spring Break would be: Over the break, I had the opportunity to not only replenish myself but also work on assignments that would be due in the near future. With this sentence, I give the audience the chance to think about what I did to replenish myself and the different assignments I worked on. Regarding today's activities, I had learned more transitional words like the HOTSHOT CAT.

  13. A topic sentence that I would use during the break is, "During the break I had to had a poetry competition." I would go through the process of how I had to compete in the islands grand slam, where a bunch of teen poets competed to be on Guam's national team. I feel that this is a topic i can explore simply because it's the only thing i can remember vividly during the break. In class we went through the process of going through steps and processing. I learned that it is extremely difficult to write about something you have very little knowledge of, and to write a process it is advisable to do research of the process. Today's activity was definitely challenging since it required me to research a topic i knew nothing of, however, I tried my best in following through.

  14. As for my topic about spring break, I would write, " During Spring Break, I felt more accomplished and relax due to a few activities. One thing everyone loves about spring break is relaxation. Students taking a break from their hardwork and classes allows their minds to be at ease. I would also emphasis Easter Sunday because it is the day that we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today's class activity is uniquely amusing. The process analysis, in summary, is writing how things is done in a direct or informative description. Researching your topic before the process analysis is very important in order to give your readers the correct information.

    2. I agree. Of course due to no classes students get to experience a stress free week. I really like how you emphasized Easter Sunday being the celebration of Christs Ressurection Day. If it was up to me, I would not call it Easter Day and symbolize an Easter bunny. I would call it Ressurection Day so that everyone understands what this day is all about.
