DeleteHey Edwin, sorry for the late reply. I have the enrollment key in my syllabus but I left my syllabus at home. Therefore, I will get to you on that later on.
DeleteA narrative essay is something that a writer can use in order to tell a story to his or her audience. Also the narrative essay can be used to write a book report.
ReplyDeleteIf I was to choose a topic for a narrative essay I would choose "My Last Day on a Job." The reasons are my memories working as an intern at FHP are amazing, I love doing my job, and most importantly I miss it so much. I would love to work officially as an employee when the timing is right.
Yes, a narrative essay is something that a writer can use in order to tell a story to their audience. I like your topic! A last day on a job that you really enjoy can be hard and very memorable. FHP is also a great place, and it has a great environment!
DeleteI agree that narrative essay is relatively similar to telling a story. I like your choice of topic about the last day of your job. Yes, having a job is such a wonderful experience because it allows you as a person to discover yourself more. Also, it teaches you how to become independent and gives you the opportunity to meet new people.
DeleteVery good description of a narrative essay. I am especially interested in your topic of choice. I feel that any job that deals with helping others is a job worth doing. FHP is definitely a place that helps others and is a good place to learn about the field of medicine. I'm sure working there will teach you a lot and be an amazing and meaningful experience.
DeleteTrue, this type of essay can be used to tell a story of your own or do a book report. Good topic choice! I believe that your experience there will be a great out come on your essay.
DeleteIt is very true and important that narrative essays tell a good story and has the basic elements of a good story. Again, your topic choice is good because of your experience working there as an intern. It is a bitter-sweet memory and experience.
DeleteYou really seem to like your jobs/ internships! I think that your topic would be a great and interesting example for a narrative essay.

ReplyDeleteA narrative essay is a type of writing similar to telling a story. It allows the writer to express himself or herself freely on a spontaneous and creative manner. Although it may seem that writing a narrative essay is an easy task to do, like any other type of writing, it must also be organized, précised, and well composed meaning, that it should contain vital elements needed to capture the audience's attention. If I were to choose from a list of topics under the narrative section, I would select "We Should Be Careful What We Wish For". The reason why I chose this topic is because when my cousin was younger, she always wished to wear glasses for it seemed cool to her at that time. Five years later, they visited an opthamologist to get her eyes checked because she was having trouble seeing. After the check up, she found out that she has major issues with her vision and needed special glasses in order to correct her eyesight. A couple of days passed, while we were having dinner, she told me how she regrets the day she made that wish. This incident reminds me greatly of my choice of topic and how we always go after what we wanted in life without thinking of the consequences of the actions we make.
ReplyDeleteCorrect, a narrative essay isn't just a easy task to accomplish. A lot of time and effort, as well as organization and precision must be implemented. That is also a great topic you have chosen! Sometimes there are consequences to the actions we choose to make.
DeleteYes, your description of a narrative essay is well said. A narrative essay is unique but should be well put together and should be able to grab the readers attention. You have chosen a good topic to write about and I'm sure your essay will be interesting to read. There will always be consequences of our actions and we must be conscious of it.
DeleteI completely agree when you say, "Although it may seem that writing a narrative essay is an easy task to do, like any other type of writing, it must also be organized, précised, and well composed meaning, that it should contain vital elements needed to capture the audience's attention." Many times we're so used to telling stories about our day or other experiences that we sometimes write like how we talk. A narrative is a telling of a story but we still need to remember the basic rules of writing such as grammar, organization, etc.
DeleteGood description. I agree that a narrative essay does allow the author to express themselves freely. I also like the topic you chose because I've had some experiences that would relate to your choice of topic.
DeleteYour description is spot on! I really like your topic because I had the same experience when I was younger, and I currently suffer the same fate with your cousin. With this topic, I think you will easily have a fun, light-hearted essay.
DeleteI agree. Although a narrative essay allows for an unrestrained and infinitely creative style of writing, it isn't always easy to create. Like any good writing it takes time and dedication to produce a fine product. I think the hardest part in writing a narrative would be trying to not get carried away.
DeleteUnique to narrative writing, creativity is indeed expanded and seemingly uninhibited increasing the potential for interesting and thought provoking essays. However, the freedom that narrative writing allows makes it easier for writers to stray into bunny trails and misuse that freedom. That is why keeping things organized is crucial for an effective narrative essay.
DeleteA narrative essay have a lot to do with storytelling. It has a plot, character, and storyline etc. Similar to the story three little bear the narrative essay help write
ReplyDeletegood storyline. A lot of author use these method for books and articles.
I agree with you Edwin about how a narrative essay has a lot to do with storytelling and how many authors incorporate this writing style for books and other publications. Also, a good narrative essay should contain the elements you mentioned in order for it to be complete and entice the readers as well.
DeleteYou are right! A narrative essay does have a lot to do with storytelling! It does have a plot, character, storyline, and so forth! Many authors do use that method to write books!
DeleteIndeed that narrative essays are a good way to tell a story. It has all the basic elements to tell a story.
DeleteYou're right ! Straight and to the point, a narrative essay is basically a story. It is very commonly used today by a lot of authors for all kinds of books. The outline of the story and using every aspect is very important as well.
DeleteYes, it definitely has a lot to do with telling a story. And yes, many authors do use these methods for such writing.
DeleteI agree with you. Having the plot, character and storyline are the most important parts in telling a story or writing a narrative essay. Indeed, books and articles are very good examples of narratives.
DeleteA narrative essay, is an essay that depicts a story. This type of essay allows a student to be creative in their writing. When a narrative essay is written as a story, it should have an introduction, plot, characters, setting, climax, and a conclusion. It should also make a point! The narrative essay should be written with creativity and should be well thought out and organized. It should not leave the reader confused or guessing as to what you are writing about. Out of the narrative essay topics, I would choose to write about, My First Day at a new college. I would write about my first day at the University of Guam. This was my first time at a new place and school. All through out my schooling, from k-4 to my senior year at high school, I have always went to Southern Christian Academy, where I knew everyone. When I went to UOG, at first I was lost, and I didn't know where I was going. But later in the day, I enjoyed it because I had my best friend with me. Together, we found our classes and it made me feel more comfortable and safe. It was a memorable experience that I wouldn't forget.
ReplyDeleteYes, narrative essays, as well as any other type of essays should make a point in order for the reader to comprehend what you are talking about and what message you're trying to get through. Also, I agree that it should be written with creativity and spontaneity. By doing so, writers could express themselves freely and at the same time, improve the way they write while having fun.
DeleteI strongly agree with your description of a narrative essay. A narrative essay should be clear and creative. Although it is easy for us to tell a story about an experience we have been through, me must be able to write it the write way and make sure that it interests our readers. College is definitely a big experience that has had an impact on many of our lives. Knowing first hand should help you write a very interesting and productive essay.
DeleteI agree with your description! It does allow authors to use creative writing. It definitely should be well thought out and organized!
DeleteYour description is really good, and it has all the elements for a good narrative essay. I really like your topic! I think first days of anything are always good topics for narratives because there's always a thrill in everything new. You would sometimes even remember the slightest of memories and details during that time.
DeleteYour description of a narrative essay is great! It also very true, you should not leave your readers confused on what they have read. Using your experience at UOG is great topic. I know many of us will relate to starting out a new school and not knowing people on campus. It sure is not a moment to forget!
DeleteA narrative essay is a story told by the author. It usually is an experience that we can explain first hand. That is why one of the rules suggest the use of "I". However, don't over use it. As like all essays, it must have a purpose and be creative. Your goal is to catch the reader's attention with your point of view. Let them follow your lead and envision your story. If I had to choose a topic, I would choose a vacation trip from your childhood. I took a trip to Miami, Florida to see my sister graduate in 2006. We then took a road trip to Orlando and went to huge amusement parks. I believe this experience will help me write my essay with ease.
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the description of a narrative essay. It's always good to remember not to over use "I" when writing a narrative essay. It is also good to write an essay that is creative a has a purpose. Your topic of choice is very interesting. Going on a vacation is a big event that most of us enjoy, and look forward to. You are fortunate to have been able to take a vacation like that and i'm sure your essay will be interesting
DeleteI agree with your definition of a narrative essay is. You should not over use the pronoun "I" because you want the reader to be part of the story. Not only seeing it through your perspective, but to fill like they were there beside you. Your choice is very memorable indeed. Going on a road trip and visiting the amusement parks. Seems very fun and outgoing experience.
DeleteI agree with you definition of what a narrative essay is. It's true a narrative essay is usually one that the writer experiences first hand because that is what makes it realistic and exciting to read and although most narrative essays are about you and your experiences overusing "I" is something that must be avoided.
DeleteYes, it is very important to immerse your reader into the speaker or characters point of view. Narrative essays should be very descriptive so that readers may vividly visualize what is happening in the story.
DeleteAlina, you have made an interesting point about choosing which topic should be used for a narrative essay. How vivid and impressionable ones experience is should indeed factor into how suitable that experience is for a narrative piece of writing. Thank you for enlightening me in which topic to write about for my essay.
DeleteI agree to your idea that narrative essays are experiences we can explain first hand. This advantage allows the writer to make a good use of his or her time due to the fact that narrative writing doesn't require any research or data accumulation whatsoever. The only thing you'll need for this essay is a good memory and a good sense of organizing trail of events.
ReplyDeleteA narrative essay is a writing style that allows the author to tell a story in their writing. This writing style helps the author express them self freely that is also creative. A narrative essay should be well organized and clear to read. The goal is to catch the readers attention and have a clear point overall. If I were to chose a topic to write about, I would chose my first day of High school and how I switched from public school to private school. My family moved from Hawaii to Guam where I attended high school with new people and unfamiliar faces. This experience is very easy for me to elaborate on which will help me write a better essay.
ReplyDeleteI agree. This writing style definitely gives the author a chance to tell their own story. They are also able to freely express themselves and think outside the box. The key of the essay is surely about getting that main point of the story across. Your topic sounds great! Your experience will definitely give you the upper hand on completing this essay!
DeleteI agree with you. It does have to be a clean and well written essay, so you can keep interest in the readers. This way will show how well thought out and written your story or essay is. I like your topic choice. It is true that switching from place to place(school, homes, etc.) is fun, but also give you that nervous feeling.
DeleteI could not agree more with Rachel. This writing style helps the author write freely and straight to the point of their writing. As well as being very clear. I think your choice of topic is great! We would enjoy knowing your experience onto a new island and a new school :)
DeleteYes, a really unique quality of a narrative essay is how authors are able express personalities through their writing style. I personally have not experienced moving to a new place so I would love to read your essay to shed some light on the experience.
DeleteA narrative essay is an essay that is expressed by the authors point of view. It gives readers a thought that they experienced the same situation. If I were to choose one of the topics, it would be the day of a new school or college. I would choose this because everyone has a different experience or feeling going to a new school or college.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! It really is about the author's point of view. We are letting the reader think up what we discuss in our essay. I like your subject because we all experienced that feeling more than once and every time it was different. You will have a great essay!
DeleteI could not agree more Ku! A narrative essay is basically from the author's point of view and surely will give the readers a moment to think about their experience that is also very similar.
DeleteA narrative essay is the telling of a story in a sequence of events. An example is when we're talking to friends or families of how our day went, immediately, we're telling the story of how our morning was great until the moment we stepped into history class and found out we were having a quiz. If we were to write about this experience it would best be written as a narrative because we're telling the story of our day in the order we want to. If I were to choose a topic to write about, I would write about an event that marked a turning point in my life. I'd choose this topic because I'm familiar with the event, what led up to that moment, and what happened.
ReplyDeleteA narrative essay is basically the author telling a story from their point of view. It most likely would contain specific sensory details as well as feelings from past experience. The author will also have a chance to be creative in writing their narrative essay. If I were to choose a topic, I would write about a frightening experience. I'd choose this topic because I've encountered a few experiences that were a little scary and I would be able to tell more about it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your definition of a narrative essay because although it does not fall under a descriptive essay it is true that the piece of writing includes sensory details otherwise how will the author be able to clearly tell his/her story to the reader.
DeleteI could not agree more with your description of a narrative essay. A narrative essay should definitely contain the specific details and feelings on the particular event or experience that they are telling. Choosing a frigthening experience is a great topic, I know many of us will relate to this topic because we have experienced one or more of this common topic.
DeleteIn general, a narrative essay is a type of essay wherein you narrate a certain experience or story. Similar to telling a story, this type of essay includes having the characters, plot, conflict and a setting (introduction and conclusion). Other than this, the essay must have a purpose, so that this type of essay won't be the writer rambling around random pieces of memory or stories. If I were to choose a topic to write as a narrative essay, I would a vacation trip from my childhood. When I was younger, my family would often travel to different countries in Asia. As young as I was, I was already attracted with how different other countries looked like in comparison with mine. I believe that you can never forget the happy moments in your childhood. Until this day, I could still remember the scent and how remarkable the places looked like for a small child.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your definition as well as the requirements of a narrative essay. What I like that you pointed out is the importance of purpose because it's true. A narrative essay is not just a story but a story that has a purpose whether it's to persuades, inform or entertain because a story with no purpose would be endless.
DeleteA narrative essay is basically an essay that is narrated by the writer on a particular story or an event. It is very similar to telling a story, it includes an introduction, plot, characters, setting, climax, and conclusion. This type of essay is commonly written from the writer's point of view. Particularly this essay uses specific languages that can evoke the reader's emotions and senses. If I were choose a topic to write about as my narrative essay, it would be my school trip to the Philippines my 7th grade with my yearbook club. It was my very first trip without my parents or any family member and it was the most exciting, nerve wracking, and fun experience I ever had. I remembered every little detail of the trip and I believe it could make a great narrative essay!
ReplyDeleteA narrative essay would be a personal account of an experience. It could also be a story, fiction or nonfiction. They can be very sensational as you get to look into the thoughts of the speaker and the characters. Its important to include the five plot elements as well as a purpose when writing a story. A topic I would choose would be "a memorable journey". I would write about my trip to California and all the fun experiences that I wish to relive.
ReplyDeleteA narrative essay is somewhat similar to a story in many ways. Like a story, a good narrative essay should be able to keep the attention and interest of the reader from beginning to end. If I had to choose a narrative essay, I would choose to write about my days back in California where I had my fair share of fun and challenges. It would not only provide a fun read, but it would also provide a useful perspective on college life at the United States.
