  1. Hi Dr. Rivera,
Improving writing you can be creative as art. Underlining and annotating help you with your essay and know what your writing about. Everyone in the world write either by sending email, letter, and social network. The more you write the better you understand as you read. Free writing is another technique of writing where you get to write freely in your own thoughts. Always do recursive also you might catch new words and correction. There are three stages in a writing process. First stage is exploring/ experimenting, gathering information. Second stage is Writing the controlling idea / Organizing and Developing Support. Lastly the third stage writing/ revised/ editing. I would want to be a professional writer someday.

    2. I like your idea that writing is an art form because this task requires effort, dedication, and a good execution in order to make the reader understand our points and main purposes in writing. Free writing is definitely a good way of letting our thoughts flow so that we could have an idea of how to approach our future writings. Underlining and annotating also makes the idea of writing less stressful.

    4. I agree with Trishia, I really like your idea of writing as a for of art because yes it does require a lot of effort, dedication, and good execution because what comes out of great writing is our true and deep thoughts/feelings/opinions. Like an artist we are sharing what is in our mind not by a painting on a canvas but the careful word choices and coherence within our writings.

  3. Today, we read about the writing process: stage one. This introduced free writing to me. I've never heard about that pre-writing process before. I look forward to using this process now on to help with writing future essays. I found it helps give more ideas to write about in your essay. It helps my thoughts flow right on to the paper. With the addition of peer editing today and essay brain stretcher, overall it was a very productive day.

    1. I also liked the idea of peer review because it introduces us to the lives of our classmates through reading their papers. By correcting the work of our peers, not only we are helping them make their pieces better, but also, we are helping ourselves as well. It trains us to detect possible errors in our own papers when we write another essay in the future, thus improving our skills in writing.

    2. I also enjoy writing about a topic of my choice! I like how we were able to proofread the essay of our classmate, and have a little interview right after about the changes that were needed to be made.

  5. In today's activity, writing process: stage one, I've learned how to start on a topic of a paper. Using free writing could help you expand on your paper and give you general ideas of what is important to point out. Free writing will help you brainstorm and get rid of any clustering ideas that are irrelevant to the topic, but those clustering ideas could give you another topic you can write about.

    1. Free writing was definitely helpful in writing and giving us new ideas on what to write about. It helped us put our thoughts and ideas on paper without worrying about what is correct or not. It was our thoughts and our feelings. I also helped us think about things we would have never thought of prior.

    2. So true! Today's activity really helped us put our thoughts on paper. Brainstorming helps the writer's block doesn't it? Let's you expand your mind on a more broad view and not be stuck on that one subject.

    3. I agree, whenever I write I find myself putting down things that are entirely irrelevant, making my paper seem pointless but with free-writing we can always go back and see where we veered off and avoid putting in things that don't make sense but can help in writing about other things.

    4. Agreed! Freewriting can be very helpful in finding and expanding ideas.

  6. Today's activities included how to free write well in order to begin writing an actual assignment. It is a useful tool in order to get your thoughts moving; plus you can expand on an essay with all the helpful notes you wrote already. For my free write assignment, I wrote about the use of drugs and how mostly all of them have a negative effect except for a select few. Cannabis and alcohol when ingested correctly and moderately become beneficial to a person's health. However, there are a numerous amount of bad drugs that outweigh the good ones. All in all, it depends on the person and how they can handle the use of substances.

    1. I agree with you on your opinion of drugs. A person controls how much they intake and there can be positive and negative aspects to almost everything. The free writing today definitely helped expand our thoughts and express our feelings on paper and not worry about being wrong or right.

    1. Agreed! Learning the relationship between all the pre-writing activities we learned today really helped us learn how to think outside the box on many topics. Peer review taught us our mistakes that we will learn from in our next essay!

    2. Yes, i agree. Free writing did help us elaborate on our topics when writing a paper. Also, learning how to underline and annotate is a useful skill to use when free writing or drafting.

    3. True, free writing makes us think when we choose a topic and write about it and going from broad to narrow. Free-writing really does prepare us to be better writers because explaining a broad topic and breaking it down for readers or audiences are what good writers master.

    1. In today's class, we learned about free writing, annotating and underlining. Once you follow these three tips while writing, those three will help ease the fluidity of writing. Following the lesson today is a good practice to have whenever writing. I'm not as good as most people whenever I write in a time-constrained period, but I believe these tips can be very advantageous to me especially if I continue to practice these few things.

    2. I agree that these elements of writing greatly helps us in improving our work's fluidity. Writing is not an easy task and like you Theia, I also have some issues concerning time constraints, but I always try to do my best to finish my work and I believe that free writing, along with underlining and annotation would make a great help in overcoming this obstacle. I suggest just to do your best, always remember these three concepts and keep practicing.

    3. I completely agree. When given a certain time to complete a writing assignment I sometimes panic and don't do as well as I hope I would but with these three steps I think that it will make it easier for me to get my thoughts out and message across in a timely manner without worrying that I skipped some parts or added irrelevant thoughts.

  10. In today's class, I have learned how to make the writing process much easier through exploration of the topic by free writing, gathering information using annotation and underlining important points in the free written section of the paper. I also learned how these ideas become a source of such an elaborate discussion in my essay topic. The essay peer review is a part of today's class that I liked the most especially because I get to know the person who's paper I get to read.

  11. The activity of free-writing was very enjoyable because it's not everyday that we write our thoughts down on paper. We're so caught up in trying to complete other assignments that we despise the thought of the simple task of writing. As I was writing I thought it was a great stress-reliever that can be used not only in this English class but wherever you are.

    1. You're right about writing being a good stress reliever Honeina. It is a very efficient and productive past-time as well because it exercises our mind to think and it stretches that way of thinking that could be very beneficial on how we write in the future. I agree that free writing is fun because it gives our minds the opportunity to explore the depths in our thoughts we never knew we are capable of reaching before. It allows us to come up with variation of possible topics to cover in our essay which makes the task of writing much bearable.
