Expository or Informative essay is a type of writing which requires a concise, yet clear set of data. This means that the writer has to investigate, delve for information, and start an argument about the topic of your choice in order to find the fact and logic in the arising questions and also to address some possible issues that the readers may want to know about. If I were to choose a topic from the list given, I would choose to discuss "How Moving From Place to Place Affects Teens" because this is a topic I feel I could easily accumulate data for based on my personal experience. It is a tough phase to go through and not only it affects how teenagers act socially, it also scars them emotionally which drives them to loneliness and/or depression.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your topic of choice because I have also chosen that topic. It is an issue that most parents tend to overlook when moving their children from place to place. Moving a teen from place to place has a big effect on their lives and how they behave and think. It takes a toll on their emotions and can effect them physically as well. It is a very good topic to discuss and research.
DeleteVery true. It must consist of concise and clear set of data. Much investigation by the author must be done in order to complete the argument. Also, tapping into what the reader might be wondering is a great point. Great topic choice! Personal experience really gives an additional step forward on this essay.
DeleteI completely agree with your choice of topic as well as why you would choose the topic. I think that by now we all know the best thing to write about is something you have had experience with because this would help in making your essay/paper lively.
DeleteI agree with your topic, although I've never experienced it. I have had some friends that moved from other places and saw and heard how it affected them.
DeleteTrue, an expository essay should be factual and locigal. A good essay should be considered credible in order to persuade readers to your side.
DeleteAn Expository Essay is the type of essay that consists of data that is researched or investigated by the author. The author is mostly trying to argue a topic of choice and support it by the data that has been collected. The readers should read the essay and finish it with a curiosity for the topic being discussed. If I were to chose a topic, I would chose "How Moving from place to place affects teens". I would chose this because I know the topic well and can relate to it. This gives me a better and broader knowledge of writing an expository essay.
ReplyDeleteThis is true. It must have factual information along with research to support it. Writing an expository essay with strong curiosity will help complete the argument. That topic sounds great! If you can relate to it, you should have an easy time supporting your thesis.
DeleteI agree, I like how your definition is simply stated. The author of a expository essay is mainly trying to argue his/her topic and support it with whatever data or evidence they may have.
DeleteI agree with your description. The author is most likely to argue a topic of choice.
DeleteI couldn't agree more. Expository essay must be factual meaning, it must be supported by the author with a back up data he or she accumulated in order to make it clear to the reader what the topic being discussed is all about.
DeleteHaving a curiosity of the topic is important. It gives you the passion to pursue answers and to support your argument.
DeleteAn expository essay is normally a five-paragraph essay. This consists of the introductory, evidentiary, and conclusion paragraphs. It must be a complete argument. Evidential support along with a clear, defined thesis statement must be included. It requires us to investigate and analyze a certain idea or argument. I would chose Describe the major stressors in teens' lives. I believe I can and we can all relate to this very well. This is an everyday thing for us teens. I can definitely support this idea very thoroughly.
ReplyDeleteI like your choice of topic and yes it's very true that we can all relate. This would make for a great expository essay since it has a lot of support that can come from you personally or from your peers and close friends.
DeleteI agree that an expository essay must contain the elements such as: introductory, evidence, and conclusion paragraphs. Also, I like the idea that it should be a complete argument because it gives life and factual evidence to the writers topic.
DeleteA expository essay should definitely include a complete argument. You want to have solid evidence and a conclusion; otherwise, readers will be left hanging and wondering what you are trying to explain.
DeleteAn expository essay is a form of writing where you use your logic in looking at data, examining evidence, explaining or defining ideas, as well as stating an argument that you will be able to explain in a clear and supporting manner. If I were to choose a topic I would write about the likely consequences of skipping school because so far it's what I've been doing. Last week I decided to skip classes the pros was saving gas and saving time when teachers didn't count attendance as mandatory but this week coming back to class I felt that I had missed out on a lot and to make it worst I had an exam I didn't study much for. From this experience I can apply as evidence in my essay and have the choice of using cause and effect or compare and contrast to write my expository essay.
ReplyDeleteYes, expository essays are like news reports. It requires investigation of the subject and includes an opinion or conclusion based on facts.

DeleteI agree that cause and effect or compare and contrast are the best strategies that should be used to approach your topic. In terms of how you defined expository writing, I could only say that you mentioned all the basic components and procedures there are to perform in order to write exposition.
DeleteAn expository(informative) essay is a type of essay in which it is based on data. It is explaining and backing up your topic choice for an essay. I believe this will teach us how to site facts that we use in essays, so we do not plagerise. If I were to choose a topic it will be explaining how music affects you. I would choose that because I listen to music daily. I know a little on how music can affect you, but i would not mind knowing more about it.
ReplyDeleteLooking a the the word expository the root word is expose. So a expository essay reveals or makes something clear. Research would have to be done prior to writing one in order to report the topic. Contrasts and comparisons are then made and conclusions are drawn based on information gathered. Looking at the example topics, I would probably choose why parents are strict. I am filipino and filipino are parents are known to be strict. I would have a lot of personal experiences to use as evidence.
ReplyDeleteI like how you defined expository writing by extracting the root word and used the synonyms of the word in order to make it much understandable and clearer. As to your choice of topic, I agree greatly with your idea and exposure to the Filipino culture because I am Filipino as well and I know how hard it is to live with strict parents and their expectations.
DeleteI agree, I like how you defined expository writing by finding the root word and it reminds me of our English teacher Ms. Hernandez during our senior year. I am a Filipino too and as a Filipino I have strict parents.
DeleteAn expository essay is an informational essay that usually explains a topic using facts, instead of opinions. It allows the author to gather information/evidence and describe his/her topic to the readers. If I were to choose a topic I'd choose to explain why parents are sometimes strict. I would choose this topic because I'm close to most of my friend's parents and most of them are strict, also based on personal experience. I'm sure I can support this idea in many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe expository essay is a tool in which a student can use to investigate and idea, evaluate evidence, expound on an idea, and set forth an argument of concerning that idea in a clear and concise manner.
ReplyDeleteIf I was to choose a topic for and expository essay I would choose why getting a driver's license is and important event in a teenager's life. The reasons why I chose this topic are I would love to get my driver's license because I am able to go places instead of depending on someone to drop me to my destination, and it is such a big accomplishment in a teenager's life.
An expository essay is a type of writing that requires pre-existing data and information on the particular topic the essay is about. For example, if writing about which areas in the brain can affect behavior regarding basic instincts, information about the brain in general is absolutely needed in order to write a expository essay about the subject. If I were to choose a topic for an expository essay, I would choose "The Science of Fitness and Health" mainly because I have researched many credible sources regarding this subject.
