  5. In my interpretation the poem is written by someone who wants to complete or do something rewarding in life. When reading this poem I remember one of my favorite vocabulary words that I learned in 8th grade, carpe diem, to seize the day. Carpe diem is a word I think can sum up the meaning of this poem. It's a very motivational and inspiring poem.

  7. This is a powerful poem that is deemed to inspire us readers to live our lives as best as we can. It suggests that we should try our best in every thing we do and that we should do something worthwhile of our time. Also, it encourages us to spend each day doing something that would matter and make a difference for we only live once. Every minute that we put to waste is a moment in our lifetime that we would never be able to get back. This means that we should live without regrets and live our lives to the fullest.

    1. This is very true! We cannot bring back the past no matter hard we try, so we should always do/ say the things that is true to ourselves before everything's to late. We should always take the opportunity to always grow and learn more about ourselves.

  8. This poem reminded me of the book "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In one of the planets that the little prince visited, he met a businessman that was only concerned with "matters of consequence." But after the little prince and the businessman's conversation, the little prince learned how trivial and meaningless what the businessman considered as "matters of consequence." Similar to the story, the poem holds the same message. The poem conveys the author's need to live life with purpose and meaning. We should not live our entire lives following what other people want us to do, nor should we live it the easiest/comfortable way possible. Life should be spent doing the things we love and discovering more as we grow older. If we do something that loses its meaning throughout time, we should learn to challenge ourselves to try something new to break the monotony and dullness of life. This is a great poem as it is true for everyone. Sometimes we grow complacent in our lives that we do not try to break this chain, but change is possible and important.

    1. I completely agree. Many times the reader interprets the poem too strongly that they completely miss the whole point the author tries to portray. I feel that a simple explanation such as yours is what the author is trying to say.
