The quotation above interprets to many meaning. Some of which are people learn by different ways like they are either auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners. Some people learn by writing while others learn by reading, or they just learn best by both. In other word reading, writing, and thinking do go hand in hand in which I agree on.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to today's activities we learned the different types of fallacies, how to do an argument with the writing process to persuade our readers, read "Shouldn't men have choice too" by Meghan Daum, and done the essay brain stretcher.
I agree that his quotation could be interpreted in many possible ways. Each people has indeed different learning styles. But I think the most effective way of learning is through combining two or more elements than just sticking to one learning method. Today's activities were great especially the different types of fallacies that we commonly use in our everyday lives.
DeleteGood interpretation! I agree with you, some people learn writing through reading, while some people learn reading through writing. This also goes to show that reading and writing are two related activities that helps understanding of both aspects.
DeleteTo me this quotation means that one ability strengthens and enhances another ability and with the two combined, makes a powerful tool towards learning. But in order to attain this state, it would take someone a great deal of dedication and commitment towards learning. Last Wednesday's activities were interesting. We did the same, usual routine starting with the readings then ending with the essay brain stretcher. My favorite part of the class was the reading and the exercise on fallacies. It was very intriguing as to how we always use these misconceptions in our daily lives without even knowing what they are.
ReplyDeleteThis is so true! Reading and writing are complementary skills that help enhance each other. Reading and writing are two skills that require an understanding of both to become better at it, and it should never be enough to only practice one aspect of it.
DeleteI think that day I didn't feel to well, but it is a good quotation and I would use this method someday. writing and reading mixed well in every English class and millions and millions write and read from small letter to email. It is also the sense of communication and living a life that is on your own. It help you prepare to be the better person to become the one and only.
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better now. The quotation is an ideal one to use for future reference. I agree that both of these element has to work together to improve how we think and how we learn. Also having both elements in our lives allows us to communicate and understand each other in many different ways.
DeleteWe need both reading and writing skills to think more efficiently and put together well thought essays. A writer cannot just read without writing, or write without reading. You need both. The class activities went well!
ReplyDeleteThe combination of reading and writing are indeed efficient when it comes to writing great essays. One element without the other would result to poor learning as well as thinking skills. The class activities were actually more interesting than we usually do. We answered and practiced many exercises for review which greatly helped in refreshing our memories.
DeleteI agree with you. Both skills are integral in becoming a better writer. One doesn't work without the other.
DeleteLearning how to read and write go hand in hand together. It is not enough that we practice learning how to write well through solely writing, we should also learn through reading to learn more writing styles and vocabulary on the way. Writing is the application of what we already know, and reading could always be a good basis to for our own writings
ReplyDeleteReading and writing are always connected. They are directly proportional to each other meaning that getting better at reading will improve your writing and vice versa. Reading and writing serve to improve one greater cause however, our ability to think. Thinking is such an important thing to do that many people choose not to do. People should always strive to be critical thinkers.
